Woodcarved pulpit of Amsterdam's New Church from which services opening the First Assembly of the World Council of Churches will be conducted. shown in the pulpit is the Rev. J. J. H. van Beem, president of the Amsterdam section of the Netherlands Reformed Church Council. Stained window in background was placed in the church in 1898, on the occasion of Queen Wilhelmina's coronation. A special service will be held in the New Church on August 31 1948 to commemorate the event.
