"My name is Bruno Nicostrate, I work for ACT Alliance Europe. What’s at stake this last day of COP21 is if we will get a very weak agreement or a very moderate agreement. We should get a very ambitious agreement, but this is something we will definitely not get. This is why we have to stay focused after Paris and we still need to keep the pressure on our governments and companies, as well as local authorities so they can make more efforts to take action about climate change. When you reach 1.5 degrees, the impact and consequences of climate in human lives will be so strong that, for instance, the low island countries will disappear and there will be a increase of intensity and frequency of extreme weather events everywhere in the world. If it is two degrees, it’s even more catastrophic. So, we should aim for the 1.5 degree target to try to minimize the impacts of climate change. The problem is that if we agree on 1.5 degrees we need to decrease by more than 6% or 8% our global emissions every year, starting from now. This has never happened in history before."
