The general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), the Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, visited the Evangelical Church in Baden in December 2016 to learn about the church's work with refugees.
Henrike Ochs, who now looks after the drop-in and encounter centre “K26†in Ettlingen professionally, was herself first introduced to voluntary accompaniment for refugees through the pastor, who asked her, being a member of the Protestant parish and a trained nurse, for some help looking after a sick child. She holds a tile decorated by a child during a workshop run by a local art association during Advent with children from longtime resident families as well as refugees.
