During the World Humanitarian Day (WHD) at the Palais des Nations in Geneva today the Sergio Vieira de Mello Foundation granted its 2017 Award to Dr. Rebecca Samuel Dali and her Centre for Caring, Empowerment and Peace initiative (CCEPI) in recognition of her courageous efforts to promote the reintegration of returning women abducted by the Boko Haram group back into their local communities in Nigeria.
Rev. Samuel Dali is the former President of the Church of the Brethren (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa) of Nigeria. Located in the northern part of the country, congregations of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria has suffered severe attacks by Boko Haram militants, forcing up to 70% of the church members to flee and become IDP's.
