On Friday 1 September 2017, the exhibition of the Green Village landscape projects and awarding of best designs took place in the lobby of the Ecumenical centre.
WCC and its development partner, Implenia, organized a competition for the landscaping for the Green Village project. The competition challenged landscape architects to find ways to reflect the values of simplicity and sustainability, to design space inviting dialogue and exchange, and to ensure an ethically responsible approach to protection and preservation of the environment.
Five landscape architects competed, offering different and creative interpretations for the future of surrounding area of the Ecumenical Centre. The panel of experts, which included a municipal councillor from Grand-Saconnex, and the director of the Geneva heritage department, met in July to select the winning project, which is named Ecoumène, designed by Atelier Descombes-Rampini SA (ADR), from Geneva.
