On Saturday 1 October 2016, the World Council of Churches received H.E. Prof. Dr Ahmad al-Tayyeb, Grand Imam and Shaykh of al-Azhar al-Sharif, and the Muslim Council of Elders in Château de Bossey, Switzerland. The Grand Imam spoke on the topic "The Responsibility of Religious Leaders for Achieving World Peace". Words of welcome were given by WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit.
